Constructive tool
This photo was taken during the learning session on ICT as constructive tools. In this session, I have created a c -map on topic food chain. This c-map represents my understanding of the food chain, showing a clear relationship between producers and consumers.
Reflection on C-maps as a Constructive Tool.
When I first used a C-map (concept map), I felt more engaged and focused. It was interesting to see how ideas could be connected visually. I enjoyed arranging the concepts in a way that made sense to me, which gave me a sense of control over my learning. It felt satisfying to build a complete picture from separate pieces of information. When I created a C-map on the food chain, I felt more engaged and curious. I started with simple ideas like "Plants" and added arrows to show how energy flows. It felt satisfying to connect each part — from plants to herbivores, then to carnivores. Visually building the map helped me understand the process better than just reading about it. I felt confident because I could see how everything was linked clearly.
This experience showed me that learning is not just about remembering facts — it’s about understanding how ideas connect. C-map helped me construct knowledge by organizing and linking related concepts. It supports a constructive approach to learning, where I actively build meaning instead of passively receiving information. I realized that it also helps with critical thinking, as I had to decide which ideas were most important and how they related to one another.Through this activity, I realized that C-maps help construct knowledge step by step. For example, while mapping the food chain, I connected "grass" to "grasshopper," then to "bird," and "hawk." This helped me see the direction of energy flow and the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers. It also showed me the balance in nature — how all organisms depend on each other. Using a C-map made me think more critically about each part of the chain and how changes in one level affect the others.
I learned that C-map is a powerful tool for deep learning. It helps me organize my thoughts and see relationships between ideas more clearly. In the future, I will use C-map to study complex topics, brainstorm for writing, or review lessons. It has changed how I approach learning — now I focus more on building connections rather than just memorizing content.
